Visualz 3.0.11
3.0.11 is the biggest drop since 3.0 shipped. Visualz graduates from "visuals app" to something you can put at the centre of a touring rig: it chases SMPTE timecode, speaks DMX to lighting desks, syncs across machines with failover, and takes commands from show-control systems. Underneath that, a new precision video engine, a keyframe timeline, a much deeper modulation toolkit — and AI generation opens up to everyone.
Show control grows up
Four new systems land together, all covered on the new Show Control page:
- Timecode chase & cue lists — follow an external SMPTE master over MTC (MIDI Time Code) or LTC (audio timecode) at 24 / 25 / 29.97 / 30 fps, and fire a cue list as the clock crosses each cue: launch a track, trigger a column, apply an FX preset, or hit blackout. Cues are edge-triggered, so scrubbing backwards re-arms them without double-firing.
- DMX output — stream 512-channel universes to real lighting rigs over Art-Net or sACN / E1.31. Map any channel to an audio band, beat onsets (with a decay you set), or the master fader, and the rig stays patched across set loads.
- Multi-machine sync — run one machine as leader and mirror rigs as followers over the LAN. Followers adopt the leader's clock and state (track, column, blackout, master) and keep free-running bar-accurately if the leader drops, so a dead laptop doesn't take the wall down with it.
- Control API — a local HTTP + WebSocket API that drives the same address space as OSC, built for Bitfocus Companion, custom web panels, and scripts. Localhost-only by default; exposing it to the LAN requires a shared token.
Preview a track, then TAKE
A new preview bus shows a live thumbnail of a composition cued off-program. Line up the next track, check it, then hit TAKE to promote it to the output through your configured transition — the classic preview/program workflow, finally in Visualz.
A keyframe timeline
The new Automation panel adds keyframe lanes: each lane targets anything bindable and plays back in beats, locked to the live BPM, looping at a length you set. Values flow through the same path as MIDI and OSC bindings, so anything you can bind you can now automate. It's a first cut — a lane view, not a full DAW arrange window — and it will keep growing.
AI generation for everyone
AI generation is no longer PRO-only. Any signed-in user can now spend tokens on shaders, plugins, 3D models, textures, sprite sheets, and video — each with its own new deep-dive page. Failed generations refund in full, and the generators themselves got sturdier this release, with validation-and-repair passes that mean fewer dead results. AI Video runs one prompt box across five frontier models — Runway Gen-4.5, two Kling tiers, Seedance, and Google Veo with generated audio — with image-to-video and background rendering via the Tasks panel. And if you're on the 7-day PRO trial, every PRO-gated online feature now honours the trial correctly.
A precision video engine
The video source gains a new Precision playback engine (WebCodecs, MP4) alongside the existing compatibility path — and with it, the tricks VJs actually want:
- Reverse and Bounce (ping-pong) playback, frame-accurate.
- Cue points you can jump between — including on the beat, via a random-cue modulator.
- In/out points that carve a sub-clip without re-encoding, plus audio-bindable speed and a seamless crossfaded loop wrap.
Clip launches are faster too: a warm pool of pre-decoded players means triggering the next clip cuts instantly instead of stalling on load, and re-triggered clips can resume where they left off instead of restarting.
New sources and effects
- Share Input — receive video from other apps over Spout (Windows) and Syphon (macOS). A picker lists live senders — Resolume, OBS, MadMapper, TouchDesigner — and the feed drops into a clip slot like any other source.
- Luma Key — key out pixels by brightness, made for the white-on-black loop packs the VJ world runs on. Both thresholds are audio-bindable so the key breathes with the music, and a matte view shows the raw alpha while you dial it in.
- Julia Vortex — an eleventh fractal: a raymarched quaternion Julia set with a corkscrew twist. And the whole Fractal source is now in constant motion — new Motion, Spin, and Morph controls drive breathing zooms and shape-morphing that stay smooth even when audio-bound.
- ISF import — drop an Interactive Shader Format
.fsgenerator into the Library and it's transpiled into a custom shader with its inputs mapped onto dials.
Deeper dials on the classics
- Blur grows from one mode to four: Gaussian, a directional smear with a steerable angle, a radial spin, and a zoom blur — onset-bind the amount in zoom mode for the classic beat-punch.
- Particles picks up ten shapes — bokeh, orbs, rings, sparkles, stars, and more — plus a Warp Speed mode with a steerable, audio-bindable bearing.
- Strobe gains a beat-division mode (1/4 beat up to a full bar), and Scanlines and Hue Cycle both learn to lock to the BPM.
A bigger modulation toolkit
The modulator row grows into a proper mod system: LFOs with five waveforms (sine, triangle, saw, square, sample & hold) clocked in beats or free-running Hz with phase offset; mod buses that MIDI and OSC can write and any parameter can follow; attack/release envelope presets on band signals; and modulator stacking on a single target.
Compositing and triggering
- 16 new blend modes — color dodge and burn, hard/soft/linear/vivid/pin light, exclusion, reflect, glow, phoenix, and friends join the original seven.
- Per-effect dry/wet — every effect in the chain gets its own mix slider.
- Layer masks — a layer can skip drawing and instead luminance-matte the layer above it.
- Clip trigger styles — per clip: normal, toggle, or piano, where the clip plays only while the pad is held.
Built for the gig
A pile of reliability work rounds it out: autosave with crash recovery (an unclean exit offers to restore your working set on next boot), a UI lock that guards against mid-set misclicks, keyboard control routed through the same binding system as MIDI and OSC, a time-signature-aware beat/bar indicator in the transport, media relink that re-points missing files by scanning a folder and matching content, and view switches between Perform, Deck, and Assets that no longer stutter the output.
